The artistic style of this painting is reminiscent of the ancient Egyptian way of visually handling death and the afterlife. The colors and design are similiar, as in the depiction of the deceased taking a journey back to the Gods. They always walk across a visual field from left to right, and end up at the throne room. I added my own Christian heritage to the mix, also using a dream of mine in which I saw my sister processing slowly to the throne room amid a chorus of angels. Therefore, I found a way to deal with the death of my sister. This painting is one of a series of paintings I call Interior Lives.
